Prices, ratings and scope were read from the Shopify App Store listings on 8 October 2026; we did not install and test the apps.
Short answer: which app is for what?
- Start on a free plan: FoundGPT or BrandEcho.
- The tracking apps with the most reviews: The Amp App (43 reviews, 4.9) and StoreRank (31 reviews, 5.0).
- Only generate an llms.txt file: Avada AEO (free, 392 reviews). This does not measure visibility.
- Your blog, list pages and site copy matter as much as the store: a dashboard outside the App Store, such as AIShortlist.
Shopify apps that track mentions in AI answers
The apps in the table track whether your store or products appear in AI answers. Most also generate llms.txt and schema.

The Amp App listing dates from 2018; some reviews may predate the AI tracking feature. The other apps launched in 2025 and 2026, and review counts are still small.
Apps that only generate llms.txt
These apps generate and update an llms.txt file for your store. They do not measure whether your store appears in AI answers.

Generating a file is not the same as being recommended. After you install one, you still need a measurement to see the result.
AIShortlist and Shopify
AIShortlist is our product, and it has two routes for Shopify stores.
The first is the dashboard: live today and works with any site, Shopify stores included. It asks buyer questions to ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity every week and records whether your store was named, in which position, which stores were named instead and which pages were cited. Then it gives you a to-do list: list pages to get onto, page copy to change, new pages to open. From $29 a month, with a free trial.
The second is the Shopify app: in Shopify App Store review, not installable yet. It will measure store-level visibility and competing stores daily, and audit your product feed: missing descriptions, images, alt text and product type. It does not measure at product level. It will start at $29 a month.

What should you check in a Shopify app?
- Does it measure, or only generate files? llms.txt and schema are not measurement.
- Who picks the prompts? Can you enter your own category questions?
- Which engines are in the cheap plan? On some apps the entry plan is ChatGPT only.
- How is "AI revenue" calculated? Most read the referrer; they cannot see conversations that end inside the AI app.
- Is the price fixed, or a share of orders?
- How many reviews are there? The category is new; with a handful of reviews, decide during the trial.
What do Shopify's own AI channels do?
Shopify offers its own infrastructure for products to be found and bought in AI channels, documented as "agentic storefronts". For which channels are open and whether your store is eligible, see Shopify's help page.
That infrastructure carries your product data to the channels. It does not tell you whether an AI recommends you ahead of a competitor; you still need a measurement for that.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I get my Shopify store into ChatGPT answers? Your product data has to be complete, AI bots have to be able to read your site, and your store has to be named on the list and review pages the answers cite. An app helps with the first two.
- Is installing llms.txt enough? No. The file presents your content to bots in an orderly way; it does not guarantee a recommendation.
- Do Peec AI or Otterly have a Shopify app? On 8 October 2026 we found no official app from these tools in the Shopify App Store.
- Is there a free AI visibility app for Shopify? The FoundGPT and BrandEcho listings show a free plan; check the scope on the listing.
